Recipe for a Hungarian Butcher's stew. - Food for the meat lovers.
You will need:
(for about 4 big or 6 a bit smaller portions)
- 1/2 kg of pork (leg or shoulder)
- 100 gr. of smoked bacon
- 200 gr. of smoked ham
- 20 grams of pickled cucumber
- 1 tablespoon of tomato puree
- 2 onions
- salt (optional)
- ground black pepper
Preparation:
Chop the onions. Cut meat, bacon, ham and cucumber into thin strips. Fry the bacon, add onion and braise. Put the meat in, season with salt (optional) and pepper, pour just a little bit of water (add several times more when it's gone) and cook until tender. When the meat is half ready, add the sliced ham. When the meat is tender, add the pickled cucumber and tomato puree. Bake it for a few minutes and remove from the heat.
Watch out! If your smoked meat, cucumber or tomato puree is very salty - you may not want to add extra salt.
Good with some rice, pasta or potatoes and fresh or cooked vegetables.
