Raffaello style candies

Nuoroda į lietuvišką recepto versiją čia.
From a huge variety of home made raffaello recipes we've decided to try this one:
We got this recipe from my friends mother. So he already knows, that this version is worth making...
I also liked them. It's a perfect desert to satisfy one's sweet tooth.

You will need (we made about 60 small candies):
  • 200 ml of water
  • 300 grams of sugar
  • 250 grams of margarine - we used butter
  • 1 package of vanilla sugar
  • 360 grams of full fat milk powder - we used 300 grams of skimmed milk powder (just didn't have another option at that moment)
  • 250 grams of ground coconut + some coconut for coating
  • skinless baked almonds or hazelnuts
Bring water with sugar to boil, always mix. Let it cool a little bit, add butter, vanilla sugar. Mix till the butter is melted. Mix the milk powder and then the coconut into butter mass. Let it cool. Put into the fridge for one night. If you need to peal your nuts, it is easily done by boiling them in the water for 1-2 minutes. After you remove the skin, bake your nuts for about 10 minutes in the oven preheated to 180 degrees (Celsius), after 5 minutes you can shake them.
You can form your candies the next day. Take some of the coconut mass, put one nut inside, form a ball and coat it with ground coconut.
Bon appetit!
We will also try the version with condensed milk and white chocolate in the future... :)
